Talk about a Break...

I guess it's safe to say that it would be impossible to fill you in on all the "happenings" since my last blog post almost 3 years ago huh? So I figure there is no better way to resolve that gap then by just jumping in and starting from now! Although, I do hope to fill in some of the holes as time goes on....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
People ask me a lot why I have other photographers taking Arden's special milestone images when they say "you can just do it yourself"  It's always been hard to explain but here's the best I can do.  I've been incredibly blessed in this industry to have met and made friends with some of the most talented people that walk the earth.  They've inspired me, encouraged me, challenged me, and supported me during my time in the business and we are truly honored to see our Arden, through their lens.  When Arden was born we packed up our van when she was a week old and drove almost 7 hours to see my friend Amber with Little Moon Photography.  She is undoubtedly in a class of her own.  I feel so privileged to both call her my friend and to proudly display her art in my home, on my walls....
             People thought we were nuts - until they saw dozens and dozens of images like these:
Given that experience, I didn't get as many questions a few weeks ago when I took Arden for her 3 month session with my friend Melissa with Melissa DeVoe Photography, but there were still a few.  Today, as I opened and viewed the gallery for the first time, it struck me.  THIS feeling, THIS experience - that is why I have someone else capture these moments for us.  For years, I could only hope every time I sent a gallery of images to a client that they would feel the things Mike and I felt when looking at Arden's pictures from both Amber & Melissa.    Today, I simultaneously was crying, laughing, and smiling so much my cheeks burned.  It wasn't a project of loading and culling images, editing a few at a time here and there; they were finished images that captured Arden perfectly the way she is now - both silly and serious, and oh so expressive!
Here are just a few of our favorites from Melissa!
I cherish every moment I get as a Mom and cannot thank these girls enough for allowing me to have this experience as Arden's Momma and not a photographer!
I so enjoy seeing pictures of Arden. She is just so exquisite! I couldn't be happier to see the way she has changed your lives and 'completed' your family. I read this particular post a while ago, but didn't notice until today that your long break coincides with the day Travis was born. Your last post before this one was on 2/2/10...the day he was born...after the snowstorm. And just in case you were wondering...yes, your clients (especially this one) DID feel that way that you described when you first saw your pics of Arden. It's really a feeling like no other, one that is a privilege, and will always be treasured. Thanks for sharing your talent, and your family, with the rest of us.
