Water - Water - Everywhere!!!!

I started my 11 day vacation on Monday...and man was I having a good day! I was in my fleece pants and tee shirt, getting the mantle decked out for Santa, listening to the "Sounds of the Season" channel and had a few holiday scented candles burning. I sat down for a quick break from the decorations and had put some laundry in...Only a few moments later heard the sound of water gurgling. Hmmm... I thought...that doesn't sound good...but it wasn't coming from near the laundry room...it was coming from our powder room. I ran in there just in time to see water start spilling out from the toilet like niagra falls. It was running everywhere so fast - the floor had what seemed like 1-2 inches of water and the carpet in the hall was getting wetter and wetter by the second. I ran upstairs and grabbed as many towels as I could and came back down...it was like throwing one paper towel into a full bath tub...ran and got more towels and finally got it a little under control so I could call Mike. He headed home immediately... just in time for the water to overflow for the second time!!!!

We called Roto-Rooter and a few hours later all was better (aside from all the wetness)... we had a blocked main and the laundry drain backed up into the powder room...at least we know it wasn't sewer backup...that would have been more than I could handle... It was probably clogged up with all of Michael's "power dumps" (hahahahahaha!!!)...

So we got more towels and stomped around for what seemed like hours and then ran some fans on the carpet all night. Mike went under the house and said it looked like a lot of the water had drained out, so that was good. We'll see if our laminate flooring in the powder room is ruined (probably) and if we end up needing new carpet too... we had it steam cleaned yesterday and it looks pretty good and seems dry, but only time will tell!

So not really the vacation day I was expecting.... it can only get better right? I am thinking I am just destined to have nightmare vacations (at home or away)....need a Mexico reminder anyone?
